Desktop notifications
Get a system-level alert when a new chat lands in the inbox — even when the Nura24 tab is in the background.
Live Chat is real-time, but agents aren't always staring at the inbox. Desktop notifications close that gap.
Enable in one click
Open the chat inbox at <tenant>.nura24.com/admin/chat. In the header, click Enable desktop alerts. Your browser asks for notification permission — accept once, and Nura24 will fire a native OS notification whenever a new conversation arrives.
The page polls every 15 seconds for new chats. As long as the tab is open in some window, you'll get notified.
Smart silence
You won't get notified for chats that are already on your screen:
- If the inbox tab has focus, no notification fires (you're clearly already looking).
- If you're on the chat detail page or anywhere else inside Nura24, only the inbox page does the polling — but most agents keep the inbox pinned in one tab and work in another, which is exactly the scenario this is designed for.
- Each new conversation gets one notification, not a notification per message. Click it once and you're in the chat.
What the notification looks like
New chat from Jane Doe Click to open conversation.
Clicking it focuses the Nura24 tab and navigates straight to that conversation — no second click needed.
Browser-level permission
The notification is a standard browser feature (Notification API). If you ever change your mind:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy → Site Settings →
<tenant>.nura24.com/admin→ Notifications → Block. - Safari: Settings → Websites → Notifications.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Permissions → Notifications → Settings.
If the browser doesn't support notifications (older versions, restricted environments), the inbox falls back gracefully — you just won't get alerts.
What about mobile?
Mobile browsers don't deliver Notification API alerts reliably when the tab isn't in focus. For mobile-first agents, pair desktop notifications with mail alerts so an unanswered chat eventually pages you over email.
